Suzy Bell, a writer, poet and columnist runs Red Eye Creative where she and a small team create and curate contemporary cultural projects celebrating Africa in Cape Town.

As a writer she is working on Even Money, a violent story set in sweaty tropical Durban. Mrs Habib’s Hypothalamus was set in Cape Town’s Bo-Kaap and published in an Oshun anthology. An excerpt of her manuscript, Paradise Valley was published in the New Contrast Literary journal and her short story winning entry (UCT/Stellenbosch Impress competition), Even Money was published by White Rat as a contemporary picture-comic story.

Suzy writes a weekly Cape Times culture column, ‘Red Eye’ and ‘Belle Epoque’, a monthly satirical wine column for Wine magazine. Suzy Bell is a former arts editor and arts critic for the Mail & Guardian, and theatre critic for The Sunday Independent. Her journalism is off-beat and imaginative.

Suzy’s latest cultural community project is a Red Eye Cape Town Festival and Red Eye Poetry & Books with wine and dark chocolate and local, original music.
